Virtual Telescope → Future Physical Telescope · Core20
This browser bench models the observation record a future physical CCD / counter instrument can produce.
WHAT A REAL OBSERVER WOULD GIVE US
frameId rawPulse free-running arbitrary counter captured for the frame moon io | eu | ga jupiterX measured Jupiter center in CCD pixels moonX measured moon center in CCD pixels visible optional uncertaintyX optional
Only reduction: x = moonX − jupiterX.
No degree conversion is required for turn detection. Original images and counter logs remain the evidence.
Fake CCD generator
Generated data includes Jupiter detector drift, different moon starting phases, arbitrary counter values and centroid noise. Later, replace these rows with real measurements.
CCD / counter records
Observation-format preview
The reduced observation record keeps only rawPulse + moon + signed Jupiter-relative x. Exporting it here does not feed or alter Core20.
Placard for a future volunteer
1. Run one monotonic free-running counter. 2. Capture its value with each CCD frame. 3. Measure Jupiter center X in pixels. 4. Measure Io / Europa / Ganymede center X in the same frame. 5. Keep originals. Do not pre-convert pixels to degrees for A8. 6. Send CSV: frameId,rawPulse, moon, jupiterX,moonX,visible, uncertaintyX
The session does not need to start at WEST. It only needs enough observations around repeated extrema. For full 8:4:2 qualification, long coverage is needed; shorter data can still test early recovery.
